The Autism Society of Miami-Dade is part of the Autism Society of America founded in 1965. We are a volunteer, parent based organization. We serve approximately 1000 families in Miami- Dade. We help support our families by giving them a place where they can be themselves and not feel alone.
Mission Statement
The Autism Society of Miami-Dade is committed to providing support and promoting opportunities to enhance the lives of individuals within the autism spectrum as well as their families and caregivers. We maintain and support a community for people whose lives are affected by autism by sponsoring events and forums for sharing and caring and by helping ensure that all receive the support and services they need while respecting individual needs and preferences. We acknowledge that parents and other primary caregivers are the ones who know each individual best, and we encourage and promote cooperative relationships between them and the schools, agencies, and professionals involved in the lives of their loved ones within the autism spectrum. We value relationships founded on honesty, integrity, and mutual respect as the basis for a healthy community. And we believe that all individuals within the autism spectrum can make a unique contribution to his or her family and community, and support the development of their full potential as members of society.
